National Championship 1964/65

Three-time champions!
Twenty-seven years later, Benfica reaches the title for the third time in a row for the second time. A new cycle begins: for four times in a row Benfica wins three consecutive titles separated by a Sporting victory. Like in the previous season, the team ends the competition six points ahead of runner-up, FC Porto. The title is celebrated two matches to the end, following a 2-1 win away over V. Setúbal. More celebrations followed in the next match after an 11-3 hammering against Seixal in Lisbon. With the same number of goals scored in the previous season (28), Eusébio was the competition’s best scorer for the second time.
