COSME DAMIÃO AWARDS

As part of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's 121st anniversary, those who deserve the Cosme Damião Awards for their merit are elected. This year, until 11:59 pm on Monday, March 17, Benfiquistas have chosen the 2024 winners by voting exclusively for those registered on the Official Website.

As part of the Club's 121st anniversary celebrations, the Cosme Damião Awards will be presented to those who have stood out the most in the last year, at a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, March 20, at the Aula Magna in Lisbon.

There are 34 nominees on the ballot, divided into eight categories: Men's Football Breakthrough, Women's Football Breakthrough, Indoor Sports Breakthrough, High Performance Athlete, Coach, Men's Footballer and Women's Footballer.

Determined to prepare for the AVS match

Benfica's professional football team held another training session on Saturday, April 26, at the Benfica Campus, with a view to the match against AVS, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at the Estádio da Luz. The match from round 31 of the Liga Betclic is scheduled for 6 pm.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
