AVS-Benfica

Aursnes

A starter in the AVS-Benfica game, on matchday 14 of the Liga Betclic, Aursnes was dissatisfied with the 1-1 final, but was willing to see what he could take positively from a result that didn't align with the team's objectives.

It was precisely that 1-1 that prompted the first question from the Sport TV reporter in the quick interview while still on the pitch, a result that wasn't what the Norwegian midfielder wanted. "No, of course we wanted to win the game, and I feel we controlled it in the first half in a good way, but in the second half we didn't play well, and we didn't control the game well, and I think 1-1 is a fair result, to be honest," the Benfica No. 8 began by saying.

After a dominant first half, nobody expected things to change so much in the second, something that Aursnes explained in this way: "They were aggressive and played well in the 2nd half, and we couldn't break out of their pressure and dominate in midfield. We lost the rhythm of the game, and that's disappointing, and then we conceded a goal at the end, which was a bit deserved, to be honest. We have to learn from that and go again in the next game," he said.

"We've been doing well. We have to learn from this draw, there's a good spirit in the team, we're very motivated to keep going, so we just have to learn from this game," said Aursnes.

AVS's reaction also earned a comment from the player: “Yes, they also hit the post at the end, they had good energy and were putting us under pressure. In the end, they had a set piece and scored, so yes, we have to learn from that and move on.”
