Bajrami in Albania's senior national team

Benfica defender Bajrami has been called up to Albania's senior national team, with the first matches in the Nations League on the horizon.

Initially called up to his country's Under-21 squad, the Reds' player has since been called up to the Albanian senior national team, which will face Ukraine (at 7:45 pm on Saturday, September 7, in Prague) and Georgia (at 7:45 pm on Tuesday, September 10, in Tirana) in the opening two rounds of Group B1 of the competition's League B, which also includes Czechia.

It should be noted that Kökcü (Turkey), António Silva (Portugal), Barreiro (Luxembourg), Bah (Denmark), Otamendi (Argentina), Pavlidis (Greece) and Trubin (Ukraine) will also represent their respective senior national teams, as well as Zeki Amdouni (Switzerland), Issa Kaboré (Burkina Faso) and Kerem Aktürkoglu (Turkey), recently presented at Benfica.

Samuel Soares will also be in the Portuguese Under-21s – André Gomes and Tomás Araújo had also been called up for this team, but were dismissed for physical reasons –, Álvaro Carreras in the same Spanish category and João Rego in the Portuguese Under-20s.

In all, 14 members of Benfica's professional football squad will be involved in international team commitments.
