Champions League 2024/25: Benfica's opponents and fixtures

Benfica already know the opponents of the league phase of the Champions League. The draw took place on Thursday, August 29 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The Eagles will face Barcelona (Spain, home), Bayern Munich (Germany, away), Atlético de Madrid (Spain, home), Juventus (Italy, away), Feyenoord (Netherlands, home), Red Star (Serbia, away), Bologna (Italy, home) and Monaco (France, away). The matches will take place between September 17 and January 29, 2025. Matchday 1 is scheduled for September 17, 18 or 19. The final of the competition will take place on May 31, 2025, at the Munich Arena in Germany.

Simão Sabrosa (Benfica's Director of International Relations): “A different Champions League, with a format that makes it a very competitive championship. If the previous model meant that there were no easy games, what can we say now? We're all looking forward to this new edition, but one thing's for sure, we're going to have some great matches between the best in Europe. [Benfica's goals] Although the format is different, the goals are the same: to secure a place in the next round, either directly or via the play-offs. It won't be easy for any of the clubs involved. [Importance of home games] It depends, honestly, as there are no double-headers between the teams, the home advantage may not be so decisive. We're looking forward to the start of this Champions League.”
