Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that it has reached an agreement with Celtic, from Scotland, for the permanent transfer of footballer Paulo Bernardo.

The midfielder began his sporting career on the synthetic turf of the Estádio da Luz, at the Benfica Football Schools, the club where he completed all his formative years: he started in the U-9s and then progressed through the  U-11s,  U-13s,  U-15s, U-17s, U-19s, U-23s and B team.

Paulo Bernardo's debut for the Reds' first team took place on November 2, 2021, in the Champions League against Bayern Munich in Germany. It was the player's first of 26 senior appearances for the Glorioso.

In the second half of the 2022/23 season, on loan from Benfica, the center-midfielder represented Paços de Ferreira (13 games and two goals).

Last season, in 2023/24, Paulo Bernardo was loaned out to Celtic, where he made 33 appearances and scored four goals.

As the player moves on to a new stage, Sport Lisboa e Benfica wishes Paulo Bernardo every success both professionally and personally!
