Almería replaces Villarreal as Benfica's opponents in the friendly match scheduled for Sunday, July 21, in Thonon-les-Bains.

The Eagles' clash with the Spanish side will take place at the Stade Joseph-Moynat in Thonon-les-bains and kick-off is scheduled for 3.30 pm local time (2.30 pm in mainland Portugal).

The team's official preparation plan also includes three other matches. Roger Schmidt's side's pre-season schedule includes a match against Brentford at the Estádio da Luz on July 25 (8 pm). Also at the Cathedral, on July 28, the Glorioso take on Feyenoord in the 12th edition of the Eusébio Cup. 

Another trip to the south of the country is scheduled for August 2. The Eagles will face Fulham FC at the Estádio Algarve.

The cycle of pre-season matches began last Friday, July 12, at the Estádio Municipal de Águeda, where the Benfica team faced Farense. On Saturday, July 13, the Eagles played Celta de Vigo at the same venue.
