Pavlidis scored in his first game with the Sacred Mantle

Benfica's new signing, Pavlidis made his eagle debut on Friday, July 12. At the Estádio Municipal de Águeda, against Farense, in the first game of the pre-season, the Greek striker started and scored the second goal in the 5-0 win over the side from Algarve (5-0).

At the end of the first half, Pavlidis made it 2-0 and, in the mixed zone, he expressed his satisfaction after the first few days of pre-season. "The game was very good, we scored five goals and didn't concede any. First impressions are good, but we have a lot of things to work on over the next few days", said the striker.

The preparation work for the new season has been fruitful, according to the player. "It's been really good. My teammates have helped me adapt to the team, as well as the coach and the staff. I'm very happy to be part of Benfica," said he was pleased to have scored. "It's great to score in my first friendly match, I'm very happy, but I still have a lot to improve on," he said.

PAVLIDIS' GOAL

Stressing the need to evolve, the striker guaranteed that the focus is on "helping the team improve".

The support of coach Roger Schmidt has been equally important at this stage. "I want to understand his philosophy and adapt quickly to the tactical issues and style of play. He's helped me a lot to fit into the team, as have my teammates, but it's only been 10 days. I have a lot to learn from my teammates and the staff," he said.

Having just arrived at Benfica, Pavlidis has already felt the strength of the fans: "Everyone at the club has told me about the fans, we have to make them happy and win games. That's the most important thing for the fans."
