Gustavo Marques signed on a permanent deal

Sport Lisboa e Benfica have reached an agreement with América FC to sign Gustavo Marques on a permanent deal.

The center-back continues his career at Benfica Campus, after a loan contract in which he played a starring role in the B Team, having been the player most used by Nélson Veríssimo in Liga 2 in 2023/24. He played 31 games, 2736 minutes and scored one goal for Benfica.

"I have to thank Nélson Veríssimo for the opportunity and the affection. I showed it in training every day and he knew my confidence and commitment. I'm also grateful for the support of my teammates, who helped me to have a good season", he explained, to BTV.

The 22-year-old Brazilian made his debut for SL Benfica's first team on December 29, 2023, against Famalicão, in Matchday 15 of the Liga Betclic.

On signing permanently, Gustavo Marques was adamant. "I'd like to thank Benfica for the opportunity and for believing in my work. I've had a good season, so that today I'm achieving what is one of my life's goals. I'm very happy and motivated", he said.

What about the future?

"Every day I have to get better to wear this jersey. I'm here to do my best. I have to evolve, improve and I'm here to help Benfica", he concluded.
