As part of the 2024/25 pre-season, Benfica will play two friendly matches in Águeda, one against Farense, On July 12, and the other against RC Celta de Vigo, on the 13th.

The match against the Algarve side is scheduled to kick off at 8pm at the Estádio Municipal de Águeda, while the pre-season clash with the Spanish side has been scheduled for 7pm at the same venue. Tickets are on sale on the digital ticketline platform and also at Casa Benfica Águeda (until July 10).

Benfica's squad starts its pre-season on July 3, and the preparation plan already includes two other friendlies - which have since been made official - at the Estádio da Luz. The match against Brentford (July 25, 8 pm) s followed by the match against Feyenoord (July 28), this time in the 12th edition of the Eusébio Cup.

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
