António Silva and João Neves are the Benfica players included in Portugal's squad for the European Championship in Germany. The list of 26 players was released by Roberto Martínez on Tuesday, May 21, at the Cidade do Futebol. 

As part of the preparation plan for the final stage of Euro 2024, the Portuguese national team will play three friendly matches, the first of which will be against Finland on June 4 (Tuesday) at 7:45pm at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.

On June 8 (Saturday), at the Estádio Nacional, in Oeiras, at 5:45 pm, Portugal will face Croatia, followed on June 11 (Tuesday), at 7:45 pm, at the Estádio Municipal de Aveiro, by the final test for the competition, against the Republic of Ireland.

Portugal está inserido no Grupo F do Campeonato da Europa, Portugal is in Group F of the European Championship, where they will face Czechia (June 18 in Leipzig), Turkey (June 22 in Dortmund) and Georgia (June 26 in Gelsenkirchen).

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
