Di María was present at the flash interview after Benfica's 5-0 win over Arouca on matchday 33 of the Liga Betclic at the Estádio da Luz.

"Yes, we played a good match. We knew we were going to play a tough opponent, who have been doing well. The most important thing is that we secured a beautiful victory for the fans, who deserved it", the eagles' No. 11 jersey told BTV on Sunday night, May 12.

"We could have played more games like this throughout the season. We have the ability to do it, we have players with a lot of quality, but that's football, sometimes things go well, sometimes they don't. We have to continue on this path", said Di María, who scored the first goal in this match, Benfica's last at the Estádio da Luz in 2023/24.

The Argentinian international also revealed what happened when the penalty that made it 1-0 was scored.

"Rafa told me before the game that he was close to Pizzi [in the number of goals scored for Benfica]. So I told him that if I had a penalty to take, I'd give it to him. He told me no. I tried to give it to him [in the game], but he didn't want it. He doesn't like taking them, and that's that", he claimed.
