Benfica will play Marseille (France) in the quarter-finals of the Europa League: the first leg, at the Estádio da Luz, will be played on April 11 at 8 pm, and the second leg, at the Vélodrome, is scheduled for April 18 at 8 pm. The draw took place on Friday, March 15, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and also decided the route to the final. 

This is the third time Benfica will play Marseille in European competition. The first encounter took place in the semi-final of the then European Champion Clubs' Cup, in the 1989/90 season (2-1 in Marseille and 1-0 in Lisbon), and the second was for the last 16 of the Europa League, in the 2009/10 season (1-1 in Lisbon and 1-2 in Marseille). The Eagles continued their run on both occasions.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
