Connection formalized
As Sport Lisboa e Benfica's head of International Relations, Simão Sabrosa received the Maltese delegation headed by Pio Vassallo, MCS chairperson, at Estádio da Luz. Following the partnership signing ceremony, the latter said he was "honored" and "proud" to be associated with a "world reference" in the development of young talent.
"We are truly honored by the technical partnership between the Mediterranean College of Sport and Benfica. We embrace Benfica's methodology, ethics and values. We know that they are world leaders in youth development and we believe that this partnership represents the best opportunity for our students to develop their football skills", said Pio Vassallo, in statements to the Benfica media.
For his part, Davide Gomes, technical coordinator of the Club's international projects, welcomed this "innovative" partnership, which represents another opportunity for Benfica to continue transmitting its values to young people through football.
"It's the first time Benfica has partnered with an international school. We will be responsible for the football curriculum of the students who will study at this school. It's another opportunity for us, Benfica, to take another step towards internationalization and continue to pass on our values. We're already in several countries around the world, with various projects, and this one will combine both professional and educational aspects," explained Davide Gomes.
