MOMENT

As part of the official commemorations of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's 120th anniversary, Pope Francis received a delegation from Sport Lisboa e Benfica in private audience this morning, led by President Rui Costa, accompanied by Sandra Silva (his wife), Fernando Seara (chairman of the SLB General Assembly), Carlos Moia (president of the Benfica Foundation), Luís Mendes (vice-president), Lourenço Coelho (football director), Nuno Costa (head of the President's Office) and Luís Miguel Pereira (content director). The audience was also accompanied by Bishop Rui Valério, Patriarch of Lisbon, and Canon Paulo Franco.

Rui Costa thanked the Holy Father for his willingness to receive the Sport Lisboa e Benfica delegation, in the year in which the club proudly celebrates its 120th anniversary, and expressed, on behalf of all Benfica fans, the enormous honor of being received at the Vatican by Pope Francis.

For his part, the Holy Father expressed the enormous affection he feels for Portugal, for the Portuguese and for Fatima.
