Youth Football
Rui Costa, President of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, spoke at the opening of the event and underlined the importance of the project for the Club.

Benfica's youth football staff
Rui Costa stressed the importance of the initiative and the role of those present in the growth of the club's youth football project. "I'd like to congratulate those who took this initiative a few years ago for the importance of this day. We all have a responsibility to make our youth football grow more and more", he stressed.
At the 4th edition of the event - which also took place in 2018, 2019 and 2022 - around 140 people from the Youth Football structure and staff gathered around the theme "Develop for autonomy", taking stock of the work carried out so far. It was also an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of the present and future, in the short, medium and long term.
Pedro Mil-Homens, general manager of Youth Development, gave a "positive" assessment of the event. "We started these initiatives in 2018/19. It's a way of bringing the youth football family together, taking stock of the past season, bringing in one or other guest on some topic, and providing a moment of conviviality," he said.
The director-general of Training stressed the need to always look to the future. "As our President says, there are no credits at Benfica, so... what we've already done, the players we've already handed over to Professional Football, the titles that Youth Football has won, all that has already passed. We must certainly look back on them, not in a nostalgic way, but looking forward to the future," he concluded.
The day began with theoretical sessions in the auditório municipal do Fórum Cultural do Seixal, followed by lunch and family photos at the Benfica Campus, and in the afternoon there was a team building activity through the streets of Seixal.
