António Silva: "We are getting on well"

Having won the Algarve Trophy against RC Celta (2-0), in a pre-season match played this Friday, July 21, António Silva was the voice of the collective and took stock of Benfica's preparation to date, pointing to what's to come.

"At the moment we only have wins, which is very good. Above all, the most important thing in pre-season is to prepare for what the season is going to be, and things are going very well so far", started by saying the center-back. 

"It was a decision of the manager, I accepted it gladly, because it is special for any Benfica player to wear the captain's armband. I am very happy, and I thank the gaffer and my teammates for the opportunity", said the 19-year-old Portuguese international.

"It's been tough, as pre-season always is. A lot of intensity, a lot of training, a lot of games, but that's what we're here for, to prepare for the season. This intensity of games and training will be very important for the course of the season. The team is doing well, we are getting on well with the new players, they are aware of what the manager asks of them and things are going well", he claimed. 

"We are taking the first steps. We have two weeks of pre-season, there is a lot to improve, there is intensity to achieve, but we want to get to the Super Cup [against FC Porto in August] as well as we can", said António Silva.

Next Tuesday, July 25, there is another friendly match to play. It will be against Burnley FC, at Estádio do Restelo, at 8:30 pm.
