Odysseas and Samuel Soares, goalkeepers of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's first squad, were in action this Friday, March 24, in the service of their respective national teams, registering clean sheets in the duels in which Greece and Portugal's U-21 national team emerged victorious.  

In the game from matchday 1 of group B of the 2024 European Championships qualifiers, Greece beat Gibraltar by 0-3, with goals from Masouras (11'), Siopis (45') and .Bakasetas (58'). The Greek national team will play again on Monday, March 27, at 5 pm against Lithuania, in a friendly match at the OPAP Arena, in Athens.

Samuel Soares, in a friendly match of the Portuguese U-21s, played 90 minutes in the trip to Romania, contributing to the triumph (0-2) built with goals from  Afonso Sousa (24') and Pedro Neto (36').

The Portuguese national team will step onto the pitch again this Tuesday, March 28, at 7 pm, against Norway. The match will be held at the Estádio do Varzim Sport Clube, in Póvoa de Varzim.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
