15th António Leitão Benfica Race: registrations open!

The 15th edition of the António Leitão Benfica Race will take place on April 1 and 2 (Saturday and Sunday), starting next to Estádio da Luz. Registration is open!

It is already a tradition at Benfica, but also in the athletics scene and in the national sport itself. The António Leitão Benfica Race - which pays tribute to the former and deceased Olympic athlete, a specialist in long-distance and middle-distance running - will, this year, 2023, be in its 15th edition, after it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The race will be 10 kilometers long (starting at 10 am on Sunday, April 2), starting near Estádio da Luz and finishing in the Cathedral.

On the same day (April 2) the Walk/Fun Run (5 kilometers) will take place, with the starting gun scheduled for 11 am at the Estádio da Luz, outer ring and arrival at the Praça Centenarium.

This will be another tribute to António Leitão, who won the bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, and was the first Sport Lisboa e Benfica athlete to win an Olympic medal.

On April 1st (Saturday), the day before the main event, the Kids' Run will take place, starting at 11 am.

Here, too, there is something new this year: the Kids' Run will be open to children as young as 3 years old (new classes Mini-Eagles and Águias Traquinas).
