Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that it has reached an agreement with Hajduk Split, from Croatia, for the permanent transfer of football player Ferro.

The central defender joined Benfica in 2008/09, through the Centro de Formação e Treino de Aveiro, and in 2011, he arrived at Benfica Campus.

In the 2015/16 season, Ferro started playing for Benfica B, and the promotion to the first team occurred on February 1st, 2019, a season that would end with the National title.

In January 2021, the center-back moved to Valencia on loan, scoring four goals. He returned to Benfica in the 2021/22 season and made two more appearances with the Sacred Mantle, before another loan, to Hajduk Split, where he scored two goals in the 14 games played.

In the first half of the 2022/23 season, Ferro played 10 games for Vitesse in the Netherlands. As of this date, the central defender will represent Hajduk Split on a permanent basis.

SL Benfica wishes Ferro all the best in this new phase of his career.

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
