Gilson Benchimol Tavares, a 21-year-old forward (12/29/2001), has been signed by Sport Lisboa e Benfica. With dual citizenship (Cape Verde/Portugal), the footballer joins the club on loan from Estoril Praia until the end of the season 2022/23 and will integrate the B Team.

"I am very happy to carry this symbol on my chest, it is a great joy", revealed Gilson Benchimol.

"I bring work, a lot of work, some experience gained in the Primeira Liga, and a lot of effort. I promise to give everything", claimed the forward. "I'm one more to help the team, and help it score goals too", completed the new member of the squad led by Luís Castro.

Gilson Benchimol's football career includes Sport Futebol Damaiense, Sporting Clube de Linda-a-Velha and Real Sport Clube, as well as Estoril Praia.

A senior International for Cape Verde (eight games, three goals), the young forward has made 16 appearances in Primeira Liga matches this season.
