The 19-year-old SL Benfica player was decisive for the positive defensive record of the eagles.
23 November 2022, 15h01
António Silva
António Silva was one of the great highlights in Benfica's defensive sector in the four games of October, with the eagles conceding goals in only one of the four matches. The Benfica played the 90 minutes in all matches, in a month in which the leaders of the championship beat Rio Ave, FC Porto, and Chaves and clinched a scoreless draw against Vitória SC.
The 19-year-old defended also had a clean disciplinary record this month, not having been cautioned with any yellow or red card.
António Silva gathered 14.06% of the votes, followed by Diogo Costa (FC Porto) and Sandro Cruz (Chaves), who amassed 12.80% and 11.52% of the preferences, respectively.
The October Best Young Player award in the I Liga will be given to António Silva, after Portugal's participation in the 2022 World Cup.
António Silva succeeds teammate Gonçalo Ramos, who won the August/September trophy.
