Diogo Ribeiro renews contract with Benfica

Swimmer Diogo Ribeiro renewed his contract with SL Benfica, a multi-year contract that includes the Olympic cycle of Paris 2024 and the ambition for the next one.

World Junior Champion (50 meters freestyle, 50 meters and 100 meters butterfly), the 18-year-old athlete already boasts a portfolio full of podiums.

In addition to the triple world title, Diogo Ribeiro also won silver at the Junior European Championship (100 meters butterfly) and bronze at the Absolute European Championship (50 meters butterfly).

Speaking to BTV, the young swimmer showed enormous satisfaction with this moment. "It is the renewal with a world giant! To continue at Benfica is, without a doubt, a huge honor. It's a Club that transmits values and with great names like Vanessa Fernandes, Pedro Pichardo, Fernando Pimenta, Telma Monteiro, or Nelson Évora. I hope I can become another one of these great names, Olympic medalists", said Diogo Ribeiro,  which recently earned the distinction of the Olympic Committee of Portugal, with the Youth Award.   

At Benfica, Diogo Ribeiro hopes to continue to evolve, benefiting from excellent conditions.

"At Benfica I have spectacular conditions, at all levels, for example, in terms of gym and the pools are incredible. The Club has everything for a successful preparation", he praised.
