Benfica's director for international relations commented on the outcome of the draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League 2022/23.

Simão Sabrosa
"The bar for Benfica is to arrive in February and play the away game against Brugge, and then we can play in our stadium, where we are really very strong, side by side with our fans", he commented, in statements to BTV. "To overcome this opponent, we have to focus this way, respecting them to the maximum and displaying the values we have shown so far", completed Simão Sabrosa.
"Benfica always has support wherever it plays, it is something impressive, we believe that [in Belgium] it will be like that"

A strong red support is expected at the Jan Breydel Stadium, home ground of Club Brugge.
"Benfica always has support wherever it plays, it is something impressive. It's something that we nurture, that we enjoy, and that we work to make happen. We always have a lot of support, both at home and away. We believe that [in Belgium] it will be like that", he explained.
This is an atypical season, as the World Cup will force most competitions to halt and clubs will see their work routines disrupted.
"It will be a challenge for Benfica and the other teams present in this stage. It's something new, but certainly the professional Football structure is taking care of it, so we can get to February at the highest level", said the Club's Director of International Relations.
