Telma Monteiro won the silver medal at the Baku Grand Slam! In -57 kg, in the competition that took place this Friday, November 4, the Benfica made her way to the final, where she was only beaten in the "golden score".

In the final, Telma Monteiro, 11th in the world ranking, faced Canada's Christa Deguchi, currently 15th in the -57 kg category. The winner of the fight was known only at the golden point, after four regulation minutes without any advantage for the two judokas. With two penalties already taken, Telma was punished with a third penalty at the 2:11 mark, which made gold impossible.

It was the return of the best Portuguese judoka of all time to the podiums.

In the fight for Olympic qualification, Telma Monteiro accumulated more points for the coveted presence in Paris 2024.
