Martim Maria Ferreira, a 16-year-old midfielder (26.01.2006), penned a professional contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica. 

A U-17 player, the midfielder participated in two matches with the U-17s and 17 with the U-16s (he scored three goals) in the 2021/22 season. This season (2022/23), up to the date of signing this contract, he was used in two matches of the U-17 team.

Martim Ferreira has nine caps with the U-16 National team and one goal scored.

In statements to BTV, the midfielder revealed his satisfaction with the signing of the professional contract. "It is a feeling of great pride and happiness to be able to sign with Benfica. It's something I've longed for", he explained.

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
