Among the 25 players chosen, Benfica is the most represented club in the national team's squad list by national coach Francisco Neto, for the 2023 World Cup play-off. 

Goalkeeper Rute Costa, defenders Carole Costa, Silvia Rebelo, and Lúcia Alves, midfielders Andreia Norton and Andreia Faria, and forwards Francisca Nazareth and Jéssica Silva earned Francisco Neto's trust for the match against Belgium in the first round of the play-off.

The match is scheduled for October 6, at 6 pm, at the Estádio do FC Vizela. In case of victory, the National Team will lock horns with Iceland, in the Estádio Capital do Móvel, in Paços de Ferreira.
