Sergey Hernández, Benfica's goalkeeper and captain of the Spanish Handball National Team, won the Gold Medal in the Mediterranean Games 2022, in the Algerian City of Oran.
In the Men’s final, Nuestros Hermanos beat Egypt, by 28-27, with a tremendous save from the red keeper in 7-meter throw in the last seconds.
Spain won all matches played, starting against Turkey, by 46-19; followed by North Macedonia (22-31), Greece (46-21), Algeria (19-31), Serbia (42-38) and Egypt in the final. With clutch performances during the competition, Sergey Hernández participated in all matches.
