"Show Racism the Red Card": awareness actions

The Benfica Foundation has been developing the European project "Show Racism the Red Card" since 2019. This is a project co-funded by the European Commission and runs in partnership with the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) and other European clubs, thus fighting racism and other forms of discrimination.

More than 3000 children and young people have participated in different initiatives of the project, and we have promoted several awareness-raising actions, among which we highlight the use last weekend of the project's captain armband with the message "Show Racism the Red Card" by all Indoor Sports teams, male and female, with official matches on March 26 and 27.

This mobilization of all the teams and their captains, as well as the authorization of the respective Federations, which we thank, contributes greatly to the success of the awareness actions, enhancing and disseminating this cause among the civil society, in addition to the work developed with the students and participating schools.

The project is nearing its conclusion, but the truth is that the cause and the message will continue to be part of the Club's activity through its Foundation because Diversity is increasingly a reality that must be valued and defended.
