What an amazing night in Amsterdam! Six years later, Benfica is in the quarterfinals of the Champions League! After the 2-all draw at Estádio da Luz, Darwin's header (77') was enough for the eagles to beat Johan Cruijff Arena (0-1) and be among the eight best teams in Europe in the next round of UEFA's competition.

At the Johan Cruijff Arena, the final score was 0-1 for Benfica, that for the second time in its history (the first was 1969) won away at Ajax and, therefore, will be present in the 2021/22 Champions League quarterfinals.

The draw takes place this Friday, March 18, in Nyon, and the possible opponents of the Reds in the quarterfinals are: Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea or Lille and Villarreal or Juventus.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
