Telma Monteiro, Sport Lisboa e Benfica judoka, won, this Friday, November 26, the gold medal in the -57 kg category at the Abu Dhabi 2021 Grand Slam, the last tournament of the year on the World Circuit, which runs until November 28.

 

In the fight for the gold medal, Telma Monteiro beat the French athlete Priscilla Gneto and reached the first place of the podium in the women's -57 kg category.

With this gold medal at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, Telma Monteiro gains 1000 points and rises to 5th place in the world judo ranking.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
