Lucas Veríssimo: Player of the month in the Liga Bwin

Lucas Veríssimo, center-back of Sport Lisboa e Benfica who had won the Best defender of August in the Liga Bwin, was also named Player of the Month.

"It was a surprise, I’m very happy! Happy for the recognition and I hope to keep the good work. I want to thank the team, the coaching staff and the fans for the support", said Lucas Veríssimo.

The Brazilian international received 16% of the votes from the Liga Bwin coaches, beating Pedro Gonçalves with 14% (Sporting) and Toni Martínez with 10% (FC Porto).
