In addition to João Mário and Rafa who played for Portugal and Yaremchuk for Ukraine, another Benfica players were on international duty on September 1. Svilar (debut) and Nemanja played for Serbia and Seferovic and Odysseas for Switzerland and Greece.

Mile Svilar grabbed his first cap with the Serbian national team. The 22-year-old goalkeeper was called by the national coach Dragan Stojkovic to play the second half in the friendly against Qatar (4-0 win). Nemanja, the other Serbian, entered at 76'.

On the same day, Odysseas met and beat Seferovic (as starters), as Greece defeated Switzerland (2-1) in friendly match.
