Thank you, captain Valter Neves! It is a pride for all the benfiquistas to have counted on you in the 17-year journey in defense of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's values.

I remember well the early days and how difficult it was to regain the trust of the fans in your favorite sport, to which your charisma and the way you captained several generations of Benfica players contributed a lot.

It is particularly gratifying to feel that your commitment to the Club is maintained and that we can count on your valuable experience, now in other roles.

The focus is now on preparing the future of Benfica's Roller Hockey and I know that you will, also off the field, and excellent professional feeding this huge ambition to quickly return to winning titles.

Determined to prepare for the AVS match

Benfica's professional football team held another training session on Saturday, April 26, at the Benfica Campus, with a view to the match against AVS, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at the Estádio da Luz. The match from round 31 of the Liga Betclic is scheduled for 6 pm.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
