1 - Benfica informs that Jorge Jesus presents a clinical picture of respiratory infection caused by SARS-CoV-2.

2 - Although in the last two weeks the coach accumulated 7 negative tests, complementary diagnostic tests performed yesterday at Hospital da Luz indicated a typical infection behavior originated by the new coronavirus.

3 - In this sense, a rapid test - which was also negative - was carried out immediately, and a PCR test whose positive result was known in the early hours of the morning.

4 - Since this is an atypical case, of a rare nature, there is however evidence of similar situations in which, despite successive negative tests, the virus is detectable only after a few days, with the evolution of respiratory infection and worsening of symptoms.

5 - Jorge Jesus will be in isolation for the next few days, with Benfica's medical staff following his health condition, which is stable. Sport Lisboa e Benfica wishes a speedy recovery to its coach and calls for his privacy to be respected.
