🎥 A handful of goals at the start of the title defense

Estádio da Luz filled up – almost 63 thousand spectators! – in the middle of August to see the Champion's first step in the national title defense. Benfica repeated the result of the Super Cup (5-0), this time in the home match against Paços de Ferreira, in the opening round of the 2019/20 Liga NOS.

[FINAL SCORE: 5-0] Another 5-0 win for Benfica in 2019/20, this time in the start of the Liga NOS. In the first half, a stunner from Nuno Tavares and a penalty kick taken by Pizzi gave the Reds a two-goal lead; in the second half, Seferovic, Pizzi again and Vinícius contributed to the rout. Bruno Lage's is already at the top spot of the Championship.

After securing the first three points in the National Championship comes a trip to Estádio do Jamor to face Belenenses in matchweek 2 pf the competition. The match is scheduled for 7:00 pm next Saturday, August 17.

Benfica's starting XI: Odysseas; Nuno Tavares, Rúben Dias, Ferro and Grimaldo; Florentino, Samaris (78’ Vinícius), Pizzi and Rafa (78’ Jota); Raul de Tomas (66’ Chiquinho) and Seferovic.

Unused substitutes: Zlobin, Jardel, João Ferreira, Taarabt.
