Caio Lucas was decisive in Benfica's second win at the ICC 2019. The red athlete was one of the eagles' players that came on during the second half and, at 90'+3', scored the goal that secured the triumph over Fiorentina (1-2).

How important was this goal to you and the team?

The goal was very important because it was the first one. I'm very happy to be able to help the team, and now it's about working as hard as possible to get the best out of the next match.

Do these kind of matches of the ICC, against these teams, help the athletes prepare for the season, specifically for the Champions League?

It's a preseason in which we have these [International Champions Cup], we're very happy to be able to participate in this competition and it's an additional help for us to work as hard as we can, play well so we can get to the Champions League in a good form, but also the National League.

Benfica's professional football team held another training session on Saturday, April 26, at the Benfica Campus, with a view to the match against AVS, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at the Estádio da Luz. The match from round 31 of the Liga Betclic is scheduled for 6 pm.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
