David Tavares renews contract until 2024

David Tavares extended his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica until 2024. The midfielder, who became U-19 National Champion in 2017/18, is another talent that came out of Caixa Futebol Campus and now has a release clause of 66 million euros.

“It's a feeling of great joy, a pride to continue to represent this huge club. I received the news with great satisfaction”, confessed David Tavares, in statements with BTV.

David Tavares, aged 20 (19.03.1999), is a left-footed midfielder who. With a strong attacking tendency, he often appears near the opponent' penalty box. Very physically strong (1.90 m), the young player makes use of his strength, explosion and speed to build attacking plays from behind.

The 20-year-old player considers himself to have a “strong mentality” and it is with this characteristic that he promises to tackle the 2019/20 season.

“I’m a calm person, who likes to have fun, play, but who also is very hard-working, who has a very strong mentality and always aspires to more”, he guaranteed.

“All I can say is, I'll always give my best for this club. If you play at Benfica, you can’t sit back, you have to give 100 percent”, he stressed.
