SL Benfica and Sporting CP B met for the first derby ever in women's football. The eagles were stronger and won, by 4-0, in Matchday 5 of National Championship (Division 2 - Group D).

The next match of the women’s football team is for the Portuguese Cup against Palmelense, away. The match is scheduled for November 1st, at Campo Cornelio Palma.

The coach João Marques has chosen the following line-up: Dani Neuhaus; Inês Queiroga, Ana Alice, Sílvia Rebelo, Daiane; Pauleta, Patrícia Llanos, Jassie, Maiara; Geyse and Darlene.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

António Silva was the spokesman for the Benfica team that booked their ticket to the Portuguese Cup final after beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final. The central defender scored the first goal of the game.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.

After Benfica's 4-0 win over Tirsense sealed their ticket to Jamor, Bruno Lage praised the team's progress in the competition, but warned that there will be time to think about and prepare for the Portuguese Cup final after the four league finals.
