The guarantee was given by Domingos Soares de Oliveira in an interview within the framework of the 9th Anniversary of the Club's official television channel.. and the "Rádio Benfica" is on the way.
10 December 2017, 20h13
"What we have negotiated with NOS was that, until the end of the first three years- we are in the middle of this process-, the matches will continue on BTV. Both in 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, we will continue to have the matches on BTV", said the administrator of Benfica's SAD regarding the broadcast of the Benfica matches held at Estádio da Luz for the Championship.
"It is renewed every three years. If, at a certain point, one or the two parts understand it is not worth keeping this connection, they may decide to not continue the agreement, whether it is in terms of acquisition of the matches broadcasting rights or the distribution of BTV", revealed Domingos Soares de Oliveira.
Benfica has been making a strong bet in its internationalization and brand expansion. Nine years later, BTV is distributed in 12 countries and the matches are broadcast in 140 countries, therefore it is a key element in all this process, namely the markets to be targeted: China and USA.
"When we think about the brand expansion, we must bring BTV and its contents along", said the executive.
About the Club's communication strategy, a strengthening is on the way: the Rádio Benfica.
"The president shall decide when it will start, but I can say in advance that it will happen in 2018. There are contents that need to be modernized so they can be available in both channels. I see Rádio Benfica, or Benfica FM as an interesting addition to a BTV”, he concluded.
