The President assured that he will not stop selling players until there is a debt to control and remembered that the bet on the Youth Training goes on.

"Time will say if we can keep these young players. The market is crazy. But Benfica is not hostage of anybody, it's only a hostage of the Benfiquistas. We have human resources and know how to be self-sufficient. Now, until August 31st, I don't know if players come or leave. But there's something I know, that the target is to consolidate Benfica", said to the journalists, during the Press Conference, at Caixa Futebol Campus.

The president also said that he is no worried with the results of the pre-season...  

 Benfica was never a pre-season champion during the last five years, but was national champion four times in a row and missed it just once, for a matter of seconds. Our goal isn’t to be champions of the pre-season, it's to reach the Penta." (five championships in a row)

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
