Carolina Vilão signed

Carolina Vilão is the most recent signing of the women's football team of Benfica. The 17-year-old goalkeeper (18.12.2000), born in Lisbon, joins the eagles' squad and does not hide the joy of wearing the red shirt.

“It is amazing, it is a different feeling to play at our favorite club. I always dreamed to step on this turf, it's the best feeling there is”, said the goalkeeper in statements to BTV.

Despite being very young, Carolina Vilão has already represented several emblems. “I started playing with the boys at Atlético Clube de Portugal, where I spent seven years, then I moved to 1.º de Dezembro where I began playing with girls. Then I had spells at CAC da Pontinha, Belenenses and Sporting”, remembered the player.

Presently with eight caps for the U-17 and U-18 National teams, Carolina Vilão is building a career as a goalkeeper, but her first steps in football were given in the opposite end of the football pitch.

The young goal stopper joins the Club with clear sporting objectives for the 2018/19 season. “Try to go as far as possible, to win the Championship and get promoted to the first division and, if possible, to win the Portuguese Cup”, she said.

Carolina Vilão left a message to the Benfiquistas: “Beleive in us, we will give everything we got on the pitch to give the biggest joys to the Club, as well as to honor this symbol we have on the chest.”
