The Sport Lisboa e Benfica keeps reinforcing the women’s football team for the 2018/19 season. Coming from Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), the winger Maiara Sousa Lisboa is the eagles’ 12th new signing.

Simply known as Maiara, the 26-year old Brazilian (28.04.1992) started with the age of 17, in small club from Rio de Janeiro, the Lapa.

"I feel privileged to be chosen to be a part of this new team. It is an ambitious project and, with the team which is being built, we will have the power to achieve the goals", revealed Maiara to BTV.

During his entire career she played for several Brazilian teams, such as Vassouras, Paraty, Ferroviária, Angra EC, Flamengo, Cresspom, Rio Preto and 3B from Amazonia, where she was until moving to Benfica.

"I’m an offensive player, fast, with a team sense. Whenever I can, I try to score, but the team comes first. My biggest references in football have always been Ronaldo “Fenómeno”, for being decisive and a scorer and Ronaldinho Gaúcho, for his skills and audacity", completed the athlete.

The winger counts with three trophies in her curriculum: A Carioca Championship with Flamengo (2015), a Brasiliense Championship with Cresspom (2015) and a Paulista Championship with Rio Preto (2017).

"I know the Benfica’s supporters are demanding, but they are always supporting. What I ask is for them to be always by our side, because I am sure that we will bring them so much joy", assured the Brazilian.
