Rui Vitória’s team is one of the few, among the 10 main leagues of the Old Continent, which have achieved always 80 points in the last three seasons. The punctuation average per match in this period is only superseded by FC Bayern.
14 May 2018, 17h47
The three points won against Moreirense in the last round of Liga NOS have allowed Benfica to reach 81 points, outpacing, this way, the 80 points barrier in three seasons in a row – reached 88 in 2015/16 and 82 in 2016/17.
In an analysis made the Official Website, it is easy to notice that, among the 10 main leagues of Europe, there are few clubs which managed to overvcome the 80 points record in three consecutive seasons. In fact, in this particular case there are no clubs from the English and Russian leagues, championships with a higher coefficient than Liga NOS.
CLUBS ALWAYS ABOVE THE 80 POINTS IN EUROPE (2015-2018)
Team | Point Average in the last three seasons |
---|---|
FC Bayern (Germany) | 2,490 |
BENFICA (Portugal) | 2,460 |
PSG (France) | 2,433 (2,438)* |
Juventus (Italy) | 2,424 (2,429)* |
Barcelona (Spain) | 2,398 (2,403)* |
Napoli (Italy) | 2,265 (2,271)* |
*Average that may be reached when there is one match left to play.
Benfica comes, thus, in a restrict list where FC Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Barcelona and Napoli are also present. To refer the absence of clubs such like Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Roma, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, only to name a few historical clubs. In an analysis made to the point average in this gap, the record reached by Benfica commanded by Rui Vitória is even more remarkable. The 2,460 points per match are only exceeded by the German Champion (2,490), clubs which participate in 34-round championship, different from the Spain, Italy and France, where the clubs have more four matches to get some points.
