With the 2-0 win, last Saturday, at Estádio da Luz, against CD Aves, Benfica has totaled 65 points in the league table. In the 26 rounds played, the team has 20 victories, five draws, and one defeat. It was the sixth consecutive win, the ninth in the last ten matches.
Rio Ave, in Vila do Conde (Gameweek 4), Marítimo, in Madeira (Gameweek 8), FC Porto, at Estádio do Dragão (Gameweek 13), Sporting CP, at Estádio da Luz (Gameweek 16) and Belenenses, at Restelo (Gameweek 20), were the five teams with whom Benfica shared the points. The only team that managed to beat the eagles (2-1) was Boavista, in a match held at Bessa, for round 6.
Overall, a 77 percent winning record, 19 percent of draws and only 4 percent when it comes to losses!
With the two goals scored – Jonas and Rúben Dias – Benfica have 69 goals scored and only 16 conceded… It is the best attack of the competition and, comparing with the last two seasons, it also has the best goal difference: precisely 53 goals!
In 2016/17, the goal difference of the reds was 43 goals (56 scored and 13 conceded) and in 2015/16 was 52 (70-18)!
In the season the team celebrated the fourth league title in a row (with a total of 82 points!), Benfica had 64 points amassed in the Liga NOS after round 26. Twenty victories, four draws, and two losses.
Going back to 2015/16 – Benfica would win the third consecutive league title with a total of 88 points! – after round 26 of the League, the team had 64 points, result of 21 victories, one draw, and four losses.
Looking at the analysis done by the Club’s Official Website it is clear: when arriving at the Matchweek 26, this Benfica, commanded by Rui Vitória, is the one with the great majority of points (65… is the number to remember!), which presents the best difference between goals scored and against (+53) and has also, currently, the best attack in the competition, with 69 goals. 31 belong to the competition’s top scorer, Jonas.
