Jardel is back to the best records obtained in 2014/15 and 2015/16 after 23 rounds, but he also more complete, because now he scores and assists, and… in less matches played.

He began 2017/18 as a starter, but a knee injury – against Rio Ave – made him lose the spot that he would regain a bit later. The months of September and October were not easy for the centre-back, but he returned to the starting lineup, at Estádio da Luz, against V. Setúbal, and in the best way possible. Benfica opened the scoring in an aerial play in the penalty area between the two centre-backs. Jardel made the assist, Luisão scored. Here began the construction of the numbers of the number 33.

He went improving match after match, winning confidence and influence. Against Rio Ave, the rout began to be built by Jardel. A great second half from the eagles, with the defender scoring the equalizer with a header. He would also have direct participation in the 3-1. The is from Jonas, but Jardel assisted the forward.

In the last match, against Boavista, a new rout and Jardel was once again one of the standout performers. Like he had done against V. Setúbal, he once again assisted a defensive teammate with a header, this time it was Rúben Dias. He scored the 2-0, with a ruthless header after a corner taken by Cervi.

With regard to the playing time average, the Brazilian registered 90’ in 2014/15 and 2015/16, e resisters 86’ (he was replaced in Vila do Conde due to injury ) in the current season.
