Tsanko Arnaudov renewed his contract with Benfica until 2021. The shot putter – who a few days ago secured the qualification for the World Indoor Championships – showed pride in continuing in a Club that gives him “security and trust”.

“I can't imagine anything better. I renewed my contract a few day ago until 2021, and I hope it does not end there…”, wished the athlete, speaking to BTV.

“Benfica is a Club that every year invests a lot in the other sports and believes a lot in the athletes. A long-term contract is very important and it's a sign of trust because the career of an athlete is very short and there are not many – or no other– clubs that provide such good condition to the athletes. We have a base of comfort and tranquility and that has an impact on the results”, he admired.

Tsanko Arnaudov ensures that he will continue working to “throw further and further away”. “The records must be beaten . That's what motivates me”, he confessed.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
