A heartfelt tribute in memory of Miklós Fehér

Benfica's professional football team held another training session on Saturday, April 26, at the Benfica Campus, with a view to the match against AVS, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at the Estádio da Luz. The match from round 31 of the Liga Betclic is scheduled for 6 pm.

In a message marking the 21st anniversary of Miki Fehér's death, the family of the late Hungarian player thanked the Benfica fans for all the affection he continues to receive. "We are sincerely grateful to you for keeping his memory alive. Many thanks, from the bottom of our hearts, to all the Benfiquistas who have never forgotten him," said his sister, Orsi Fehér, flanked by his father, Miklos, and mother, Anikó.

This Saturday, January 25, marks 21 years since the death of Miki Fehér. Since the fateful night when he fell lifeless on the pitch of the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques, in Guimarães, the Glorioso's eternal number 29 has become a symbol of the collective memory of the Benfiquista Family and there have been countless tributes from the Club to the former Hungarian player, immortalized in a bust on display at Gate 18 of the Estádio da Luz. Always one of us, Miki!

Eternally in the memory of the Benfiquistas, Miklós Fehér died two decades ago, on January 25, 2004. The Hungarian forward fell inanimate on the pitch of Estádio D. Afonso Henriques, during the Vitória SC-Benfica match, and ended up not resisting a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The tributes to our former player multiplied and the smile with which he said goodbye to all of us, as we remember in the BTV report, will never be forgotten!

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.
